Jefferies Family Scholarship News
July 2007

Jefferies Family Scholarship is pleased to announce its 2007-2008 scholarship recipients! With forty awards in total, JFS allocated nine new scholarships, 29 renewals, and two Jefferies Awards of Merit. As usual, the selection process was difficult, and we congratulate those who best demonstrated their outstanding achievement and excellence in all aspects of their lives. Our only regret is that we cannot offer assistance to every applicant. We would also like to congratulate our 2007 graduates for completing their degrees and achieving the goals they set for themselves!

JFS also appointed current board members Jim Carmack and Paul Deninger as Co-Chairs of the JFS Board of Directors. Jim and Paul are both active board members and valuable contributors to the program. They succeed John Shaw, Jr., Jefferies' former President. John served as Chairman of the JFS Board for the past five years and was instrumental in evolving the program to what it is today, raising funds and awareness among donors. We are extremely thankful to John for his commitment and contribution to the organization.

In other news, the JFS raffle, held at the end of May was a great success, raising approximately $320,000 in raffle-related donations! We are deeply appreciative of everyone who participated in the raffle, and are especially grateful to those that generously donated raffle items.

We'd love to hear from current and former recipients and welcome any and all updates, including job changes, marriages, births, professional accomplishments, etc. Please send updates to rdewette@Jefferies.com

We look forward to another wonderful year and thanks to everyone—applicants, recipients and our supporters—for your participation in this valuable program!

Boyd asked for my involvement from the very beginning - getting the applicants, preparing them for the Committee, paying the tuitions and the necessary record keeping. It has evolved to the enormity it is today. Our first meeting was sitting around Boyd's kitchen table on a Saturday afternoon. I am honored to have been a part of this wonderful benefit for the children of Jefferies employees.
