Selection Process

All Award Winners are chosen by an independent committee that is separate from Jefferies Group, Inc. Jefferies Family Scholarship Selection Committee reviews all eligible applications, but does not take into account factors relating to the employment of the applicant's parent and the business of the Company. Applications are presented to the committee anonymously. For selection committee members, all identifying information for applicants (e.g., name, parent's position with Jefferies) is removed prior to presentation of new applicant data; applicants are discussed by randomly assigned numbers during the selection committee meeting.

The scholarship is awarded for one academic year only. Receiving the scholarship in any given year neither increases nor decreases the likelihood that the selection committee will select the applicant to receive an award in subsequent years. Announcement of new and renewal recipients are made around the middle of April.

Don't procrastinate and keep moving forward. Once you fall behind, it's hard to catch up.

It may sound cliché, but patience is a virtue. You have to be present in the moment and savor the academic experience, while absorbing every bit of information you can, because it will make the achievement even that much sweeter.
