Program Overview

The Jefferies Family Scholarship has been providing educational financial assistance to children of the employees of Jefferies Group, Inc. for more than 25 years. Through substantial scholarships, as well as Jefferies Awards of Merit, the program recognizes outstanding achievement—in and out of the classroom—and supports the efforts of serious and committed students.

Each year, Jefferies Family Scholarship gives awards to a group of carefully selected individuals that best meet the criteria of the program and embody the spirit and principles of its founders. Awards are based on a number of factors including financial need, academic merit, extracurricular activities and other considerations. The program grants both monetary-based and recognition-based awards. Scholarships must be renewed yearly. Applicants fall into two categories, new applicants and those applicants that are seeking renewals of their current award. Monetary-based awards of $10,000 were granted to 2006-2007 scholarship recipients. Applications are typically accepted between November 1 and March 1 for the following academic year.

Being awarded the Jefferies scholarship enabled me to attend Southern Methodist University and receive a top-notch education with wonderful professors in a 20:1 student/teacher ratio environment. My bachelor's degree in communications gave me a strong foundation to start off my career. I've worked in marketing communications, marketing and TV production at several Fortune 500 companies so far. Many thanks to all involved in the Jefferies Family Scholarship. It's a terrific program that helped me tremendously!
